Assessment
Water damage inspections in Wiltshire
Before anyone quotes for repairs, somebody has to establish what is actually damaged. Not what is visible — what is wet.
What it involves
A clear written picture of what is wet and what it will take to fix.
We survey the affected area and the areas around it, because water rarely respects the room it started in. Readings are taken across floors, wall bases, ceilings below and any voids we can reach, and each is recorded with its location so the same points can be re-checked later.
The cause gets identified where it can be. There is a real difference between a one-off escape of water, a long-running leak and a building defect letting water in, and it determines both the repair and whether a claim is likely to be paid. Writing 'water damage' without a cause is not much use to anybody.
We then set out the consequence: which materials are recoverable and which are not, what needs removing before drying, what drying will involve and roughly how long, and what reinstatement work follows. Where something is borderline we say it is borderline rather than pad the scope.
The report comes with photographs, a moisture map and a clear scope. If you are buying a property, arguing with an insurer or deciding whether to claim at all, that document is the thing that moves it forward.
Questions
Asked most often.
+Do you charge for an inspection?
Yes. It is a piece of work with a written output, and being paid for it is what keeps it independent. Call for a figure — it depends on size and how far out you are.
+Can I give the report to my insurer?
That is what it is for. It is written with readings, photographs and a scope so an adjuster can act on it directly.
+Will you quote for the repairs too?
We can, and we will make clear which document is which. The inspection stands on its own if you would rather take it elsewhere.
+How quickly can you inspect?
Call 07971 435221. Emergencies come first, but inspections are usually within a few days.
Coverage
Water damage inspections across Wiltshire
What an inspection has to look for changes with the housing stock. These are the recurring patterns.
Trowbridge, Westbury and Bradford-on-Avon
TROWBRIDGE · WESTBURY · BRADFORD-ON-AVON
In the Trowbridge terraces the inspection almost always includes the sub-floor void, because a surface reading on a timber floor tells you nothing about the oversite underneath. Where a board cannot be lifted we say the void was not inspected rather than imply it was dry.
Salisbury and Swindon are covered too — call 07971 435221 and we will tell you straight away whether we can get to you and when.
